The first tool I used was Keynote which is Apple's presentation software, and I have to admit that it is my presentation tool of choice. It's what I use for my presentations because I think it's animations tell a story and digital media works better than PowerPoint in my opinion. This tool can be used in teaching and learning because it allows a teacher to deliver content in a story format which is always more engaging. It also allows you to build all kinds of content for all students to access. With students, I think the way to use this tool is by having students create a presentation with their audience in mind. If they imagine a group, they present in front of, it brings more to the presentation. The challenge to this tool is finding the Macs to run it.
The second tool I looked at was Padlet. I like Padlet as a place for teachers and students to quickly post things. It makes it a great place for project turn in. I think it also works well with diverse learning needs because it is fairly easy to use. Padlet supports students learning by helping students collaborate and learn from each other, and all you have to do to get kids on is share a QR code with them. The one challenge I have found with it recently is the ability to post video can sometimes be difficult. You have to downgrade the resolution to do so.
I also looked at Sqworl. This is a site that has been following me on Twitter for a while, and I have never looked at. Sqworl is one of those tools that is meant to cut down the internet. It's basically a digital bookmarking site that you can create separate boards on for separate things. This can be help on many different projects because it allows the teacher to set the parameters, and they can input the needs of diverse students into it. I honestly don't know that I would use this tool as I think there are better solutions. I believe that it's challenge is also it's simplicity in the fact that other tools give users more options.
