5.3 Program Evaluation
Candidates design and implement program evaluations to determine the overall effectiveness of professional learning on deepening teacher content knowledge, improving teacher pedagogical skills and/or increasing student learning. (PSC 5.3/ISTE 4c)
Artifact: One Hour Workshop Evaluation, One Hour Workshop Explanation of Evaluation
Reflection:
- Briefly describe the artifact and the context in which it was created. What was/were your individual contribution(s)?
- The artifact for this standard is my One Hour Technology Workshop Evaluation and the explanation of how I will meet the other strands of Guskey’s evaluation standards. It was created for my workshop at Cambridge High School
- Explain how this artifact demonstrates mastery of the standard/element under which it is placed. See the portfolio rubric and watch the videos for more details on what to include in your reflection for this question. You must respond to each of the items on the rubric in this question! It is VERY IMPORTANT that you address ALL of the criteria on the rubric. This one question may need to be several paragraphs long in order to address all of the items on the rubric.
- This artifact meets the standard because the surveys determine the overall effectiveness of the program delivered, and the ongoing coaching provides evaluation and support for both teachers pedagogical skills and increases in student learning
- What did you learn from completing this artifact? What would you do differently to improve the quality of the artifact or the process involved in creating the artifact? Not changing anything is NOT an acceptable response.
- Whenever you do a training, you learn things. This evaluation let me learn if my training was effective and how I can support teachers in the future. I think if I would change anything I would have the training at the beginning of the next school year because high school teachers do not make instructional changes mid semester
- How did the work that went into creating the artifact impact school improvement, faculty development, or student learning? How can the impact be assessed?
- Having a digital hub allows teachers to both personalize work for students and catch them up when they are behind. The evaluations improved both faculty development and student learning because it allowed me to follow up with teachers in need and help in their classrooms
