This reflections goal is for me to show what I have learned, and I am not sure that I learned that much. However, I understand why the class is set up the way that it is. I think the goal of the class is to give prospective coaches a base of 21st century knowledge, and I think the class does a decent job of doing that. My issue is that I am already an instructional technology coach, and many of my beliefs have already been formulated. I have also been presenting on instructional technology for many years, so I have many tools that I prefer over the ones that have been presented in the course. I am also in the midst of a personalized learning initiative that has established procedures such as how to measure instructional technology use, and I prefer some of the measures the district has put into place rather than the ones that are recommended in the the course
I think for most, this class hits on the the Teaching and Learning Standards of the ISTE standards. The class started by teaching teachers about LOTI level, and then it showed people how to get to a higher LOTI level. Most of the readings were meant to give tools, procedures, and structures in order to move to that higher LOTI level. For me, I work in a district where they use the technology integration matrix, and I prefer that measure. I did however learn LOTI level which will help me in future courses at KSU.
For students, I think 21st century learning revolves around 3 things, and they are letting students create, giving them choice, and having authentic experiences. These were all beliefs that have been established through my work with Fulton County Schools and my own experience in the classroom. The course reinforced these beliefs through the readings and the LOTI level activities. It was also reinforced through what was needed for the engaged learning project.
