Artifact:Big Guy in a Bow Tie Blog, Portfolio Blog
Reflection:
- Briefly describe the artifact and the context in which it was created. What was/were your individual contribution(s)?
- There are two artifacts for this standard. The first is the Blog from my ed tech site bigguyinabowtie.com. This blog has had a few different formats over the years, but it was started in 2011. I am also the sole author. The other blog is my reflections from this program which started with my first course work.
- Explain how this artifact demonstrates mastery of the standard/element under which it is placed. See the portfolio rubric and watch the videos for more details on what to include in your reflection for this question. You must respond to each of the items on the rubric in this question! It is VERY IMPORTANT that you address ALL of the criteria on the rubric. This one question may need to be several paragraphs long in order to address all of the items on the rubric.
- These artifacts meet the standard because it shows all of my struggles, successes, and ideas. These are kind of the hallmarks of reflection and blogs address this. By doing these reflections, I can then improve and strengthen by ability to model and facilitate technology driven learning experiences
- What did you learn from completing this artifact? What would you do differently to improve the quality of the artifact or the process involved in creating the artifact? Not changing anything is NOT an acceptable response.
- I think the blogs address what we think was both a success and failure in our experiences. From those experiences and reflection, I can then refine the approach and do it better the next time. My ed tech blog has improved over the years through different approaches I have taken from friends such as how to use graphics. I think from the program standpoint some of them could be better written.
- How did the work that went into creating the artifact impact school improvement, faculty development, or student learning? How can the impact be assessed?
- This improves faculty development and student learning because it allows me to reflect and make the next instance of that experience even better.
