Artifact: Current Reality / SWOT Analysis
Reflection:
1. Briefly describe the artifact and the context in which it was created. What was/were your individual contribution(s)?
My current reality / SWOT analysis paper was written as part of the ITEC 7410 course. My analysis was based on my time as an instructional technology coach at Milton High School. I was there, as a member of the KSU Iteach team so my analysis was based on my observations there, and it was not completed in conjunction with the Milton team.
2. Explain how this artifact demonstrates mastery of the standard/element under which it is placed. See the portfolio rubric and watch the videos for more details on what to include in your reflection for this question. You must respond to each of the items on the rubric in this question! It is VERY IMPORTANT that you address ALL of the criteria on the rubric. This one question may need to be several paragraphs long in order to address all of the items on the rubric.
This article meets the standard by addressing the equitable access issues at Milton High School. As part of the SWOT analysis, we had to look at the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats associated with certain standards. One of those standards was equitable access, so by looking at strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of equitable access I have met the standard
3. What did you learn from completing this artifact? What would you do differently to improve the quality of the artifact or the process involved in creating the artifact? Not changing anything is NOT an acceptable response.
These types of artifacts always allow me to learn. From my perspective, the coaching planning, and instructional standards are a bit harder to pull learning from. An artifact like this gives me perspective of what is needed in things like school planning. This is a level that I don’t have a great deal of experience with so any experience I can add is valuable
4. How did the work that went into creating the artifact impact school improvement, faculty development, or student learning? How can the impact be assessed?
From a school improvement standpoint an article like a SWOT analysis identifies the needs of a school by identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The school can then craft things such as an action plan to address the needs of a school.
