I think the most important thing I learned here is a process to make a data teamwork. Data teams are a complicated affair, and out text lays them out well. I also learned how to put together a data overview based on a schools data which could be important in the future. Finally, I think my third biggest takeaway is understanding what types of data go into school decisions.
I think the Data Overview was the most valuable experience as it gave us the opportunity to delve into a schools data. We got to look at it and see the deeper questions we needed to ask.
I will continue to look at this when I have opportunities to work with data at this level. While a member of Iteach, we always have opportunities to help teachers with school level data, but our opportunities at this level are limited, so I will have to wait for the right chance. I think the biggest challenges to data are alway time to analyze it and giving teachers an understanding. Hopefully, by going through this process, I can help teachers and schools work through it.
